Ms. June Z. Jones
Founder/Director
Meet the Visionary of JMK
Ms. June Z. Jones is a native of Greenville, Mississippi, and a proud graduate of Greenville-Weston High School (Class of 2003). She attended Mississippi Valley State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry, followed by graduate studies in Environmental Health. While beginning her college career, she also briefly served in the Army National Guard.
Ms. Jones began her professional career in 2011 as a Biological Science Technician with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Driven by a passion for youth development and community impact, she transitioned into education in 2015, becoming a chemistry and dance teacher in the Greenville Public School District. Her work in the classroom reflected a unique ability to connect academics with the creative arts, inspiring students to see learning in new ways.
Her passion for education began long before her professional career. As early as the sixth grade, Ms. Jones was tutoring children in her neighborhood, discovering an early calling to teach, mentor, and uplift young people.
In April 2018, Ms. Jones transformed that calling into action by founding J.M. Kelly Creative Arts School. Built on the belief that creativity can unlock academic success, the school integrates arts and literacy to provide students with a safe, engaging environment where they can learn, grow, and discover their potential. Under her leadership, J.M. Kelly Creative Arts School has grown into a premier destination where arts and academics meet in the Mississippi Delta.
As a visionary educator and community leader, Ms. Jones remains committed to building pathways for the next generation. She believes in fully pouring her gifts, wisdom, and purpose into others so that the communities she serves will continue to thrive for years to come.
